Fred Bartlit and Sean Grimsley Present Preliminary Findings to BP Oil Spill Commission

11.2010

Chief Counsel Fred Bartlit, along with Deputy Chief Counsels Sean Grimsley and Sambhav Sankar, over a two-day hearing presented the Commission Staff's preliminary findings regarding the causes of the Gulf Oil Spill.  The proceedings were nationally televised, with Fred and Sean cross-examining representatives of BP, Halliburton, and Transocean.

The hearings came ten days after Fred, Sean, and Sambhav issued a letter to the Commission setting forth test results showing that the Halliburton cement slurry pumped at the Macondo well was likely unstable and may have contributed to the blowout.
