Alex Groden is a trial lawyer who represents clients nationwide in complex litigation including class actions, mass torts, professional and product liability matters, false claims act and qui tam actions, and commercial contract cases. Alex has taken several cases to trial or arbitration since joining Bartlit Beck. He currently represents RTX in a series of environmental tort actions involving claims for more than $1 billion in property damage and personal injuries.

Alex joined the firm following a clerkship with Chief Judge Merrick Garland of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Prior to his clerkship, Alex graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he was a recipient of the Sears Prize. Alex was an economic consultant with Analysis Group before law school.

ET Plus Litigation
National counsel for defendants Trinity Industries and Trinity Highway Products in class actions and qui tam actions in multiple jurisdictions related to Trinity's ET Plus guardrail end terminal system. 

Counsel for Trinity in Virginia qui tam action brought by relator Joshua Harman and intervened in by the Commonwealth of Virginia under the Virginia Fraud Against Taxpayers Act, where Plaintiffs sought over $1 billion in alleged treble damages and penalties. Secured summary judgment win on eve of trial.

The Boeing Company v. Raytheon Technologies Corporation, Goodrich Corporation, Rockwell Collins, Inc., and Rohr Inc. (Circuit Court, St. Louis County, MO)
Counsel for Defendants in contract dispute relating to certain parts supplied for the F/A-18 and F-15 fighter aircraft programs. 

Pratt & Whitney Acreage Litigation (S.D. Fla.)
Trial counsel for Pratt & Whitney in environmental tort cases involving more than $1 billion in alleged property damage and personal injury claims arising out of the declaration of a "cancer cluster" in a neighborhood near Pratt & Whitney's West Palm Beach facility.

Adinolfe et al v. Pratt & Whitney
Defeated class certification (and excluded plaintiffs' main expert) after a five-day evidentiary hearing.

Cotromano et al v. Pratt & Whitney
Obtained a defense verdict after a three-week jury trial on seven plaintiffs’ property diminution claims.

Santiago v. Pratt & Whitney
Won summary judgment on personal injury claims. Bartlit Beck served as appellate counsel in the Eleventh Circuit, where summary judgment was affirmed.

Pinares v. Pratt & Whitney
Won summary judgment on personal injury claims. Bartlit Beck is serving as appellate counsel in the Eleventh Circuit, where the appeal is pending.

Bayer CropScience LP v. BASF SE (E.D. Va.)
Counsel for Bayer CropScience in patent dispute regarding polymorphs of tembotrione, the active ingredient in Bayer's Laudis® herbicide. Case settled soon after complaint was filed.

Obtained a defense verdict after a three-week jury trial on seven plaintiffs’ property diminution claims.

Harman ex. rel. Virginia v. Trinity (Virginia, Circuit Court for the City Richmond)
Lead counsel to Trinity in matter brought by relator Joshua Harman and intervened in by the Commonwealth of Virginia under the Virginia Fraud Against Taxpayers Act, seeking over $1 billion in alleged treble damages and penalties. Bartlit Beck secured summary judgment win on eve of trial. 

Confidential Arbitration (Chicago, New York)
Trial counsel for an accounting firm. Obtained a complete defense verdict following a two-week arbitration. 

UroPep v. Eli Lilly (E.D. Tex.)
Trial counsel for UroPep, securing a plaintiff verdict in a patent infringement jury trial concerning Eli Lilly's sales of Cialis to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The jury determined Eli Lilly infringed UroPep's patent, rejected all of Eli Lilly's invalidity defenses, and awarded $20 million in damages.
