Bartlit Beck Summary Judgment Win for Trinity Industries Affirmed on Appeal

Sean Gallagher, John Fitzpatrick, Nacho Sofo, Benjamin Montague, Alex Groden, and Asha Spencer, who served as lead trial counsel to Trinity, helped secure an important victory for our client, Trinity Industries, with the Virginia Court of Appeals unanimously affirming summary judgment dismissing all claims against Trinity.

The Commonwealth of Virginia and a relator sued Trinity under Virginia's Fraud Against Taxpayers Act and sought over $1.25 billion in alleged treble damages and penalties. In 2024, the Circuit Court of the City of Richmond granted Trinity's motion for summary judgement, dismissing all claims. The Virginia Court of Appeals affirmed.
