Bartlit Beck Wins $160 Million Lead Paint Public Nuisance Case

Don Scott, Andre Pauka, and John Hughes won a complete defense verdict for NL Industries in the most recent lead paint public nuisance lawsuit.  The City of Milwaukee sued NL Industries in Milwaukee County Court, seeking over $160 million in damages stemming from the presence of lead paint in private residences in Milwaukee.  After a four week trial, the jury returned a verdict for NL.  It found that NL did nothing wrong when it sold lead pigment and lead based paint prior to 1970.  The jury reported that Bartlit Beck's presentation, showing "when people knew what," was important in swaying the jury to NL's side.
